Surgery Merger

The GP Partners are pleased to announce a merger between Forest End Medical Centre and The Balfron Practice (based in Skimped Hill Health Centre).

This action has been taken as it will, in due course, allow the two surgeries to offer more and improved services to patients.

There will be no changes to the way the surgery operates as far as most patients are concerned.

However, there will be significant benefits in that patients will have more flexibility in being able to see a GP or nurse at either site. If you require directions to the other surgery, please ask at reception.

Patient Participation Group

The Patient Participation Group fully endorse the actions taken by the two practices in merging. As part of this, the existing two patient groups are also being merged.

If you would like more information about the patient group or are interested in becoming involved, please either see the notice-board in the waiting room or contact Mrs. Isabel Mattick (Chair) on 01344 420997 or at Isabelmattick@aol.com.

Staff Changes

Most patients will now be aware that Dr. Adam Greig left the practice on 30th June 2010. Dr. Greig will now be spending more time working with the Primary Care Trust.

Dr. Louisa Barter has recently gone on maternity leave. She intends to return to the practice sometime in 2011.

Booking Appointments

If you have an “urgent” clinical matter that needs to be dealt with “on the day” we ask that you telephone the surgery initially. Where possible please telephone the surgery before 10.00am.

Please only attend Accident and Emergency if you are badly hurt or have become seriously ill (life threatening). Most cases can be dealt with in the surgery or alternatively by contacting NHS Direct (Tel. 0845 46 47) or your local pharmacist.

If your request for an appointment is of a more routine nature, we offer a range of appointments throughout the day / week with both male and female GPs. (You can normally book up to 6 weeks in advance).

All patients are registered with the practice and not with an individual GP and therefore you can book an appointment with the GP of your choice – subject to availability.

Please remember the surgery is open – Monday – Friday 8.00 am – 6.30 pm. We DO NOT close at lunch time. We also offer some late evening pre-bookable appointments.

Keeping Appointments

In an average month, over 100 appointments are wasted by patients failing to attend.

This can often mean that other patients are having difficulty in seeing their GP.

If you have a booked appointment, please do attend or cancel it with at least 24 hours notice, so that the appointment may be used by another patient.
